Ortho-K

Argus Opticians will soon be launching their new orthokeratology contact lens service. Orthokeratology or “ortho-k” uses a hard gas permeable contact lens, worn overnight, to shape the cornea, allowing the user to remove the lenses in the morning and see without glasses or lenses for the day. These lenses are ideally suited for myopic (short-sighted) kids from six to sixteen or adults with under five dioptres of myopia.

Ortho-k lenses have also been shown to slow down the progression of myopia and are yet another weapon in our myopia control armoury.

If you are interested in trying ortho-k contact lenses please contact the practice for further information or to be added to the ortho-k waiting list.
