The Eye Exam

At Argus Opticians Donegal Town and Bundoran we tailor each eye exam to the individual and always endeavour to put you at your ease. We carry out a comprehensive eye exam on every patient which begins with a thorough patient history and discussion regarding your personal requirements. This then proceeds through the refraction process to determine whether glasses are required and if so what type would best suit.

At Argus Opticians we use the latest computerised test charts and testing equipment. Once we have determined what glasses you require we go on to screen for eye conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy among others, using a technique called slit lamp biomicroscopy. We will then, if necessary, carry out supplementary tests including those for colour vision, dry eye, low vision, occupational vision and sports vision, necessary. The most important supplementary test we offer is OCT or Optical Coherence Tomography.

When we have finished your exam we will then discuss our findings with you before giving our recommendations. You will then be handed over to one of our dispensing team who will give you expert guidance should you need to choose glasses. We hope to make this whole journey as pleasurable an experience as possible for you.
